Lots of horn and shine in this tribute to a beast of burden…
There’s no reason a knife that is totally functional should not also be a real looker. It all started with a slab of steel and a stick of horn. This hollow-ground “hunter” style knife has a handworked water buffalo horn handle. Yep, waiting to be released from the buffalo horn through carving was the bearded and horned head of the donor beast itself.
The 3-inch blade is 3/16″ 440-C stainless that has a nickel silver guard and horn spacer before the carved handle which feels good in the hand. The handle is pinned through the tang in the handle with a thin nickel silver rod to ensure it won’t be displaced. Custom filework has been accomplished on both the blade back and the asymmetrical bolster.
The knife is 6.5 inches overall and comes with a custom deer antler stand for display. Of course, the knife could be put into serious use as the blade has been professionally hardened and sharpened.
